Abstract
A 78-year-old male presented to the emergency department with severe full thickness burns to his face, hands and back. During the course of receiving oxygen therapy for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, he placed the oxygen mask on his head in order to allow him to smoke a cigarette, which resulted in an explosion.
