Yeungnam University

Established in 1967 and located in the North Gyeongsang region of South Korea, Yeungnam University is a private research university. It was formed following the merger of Taegu College and Chunggu College.

Today, there are roughly 35,000 students enrolled at the university. The majority of these are undergraduate with around 3,500 pursuing graduate and professional degrees. Within the university’s faculties is a staff body of around 900. Around half of these are professors with the remainder made up by associate professors, assistant professors, and international professors. 

There are 19 schools and colleges, and students are also given the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary studies.

Yeungnam is organized across two campuses. The main one is Gyeongsan campus, which is made up of 161 buildings set within 2.5 million square meters of land. By train, the city of Gyeongsan is just an hour and a half away from the Korean capital city of Seoul.

The smaller Daemyung campus houses six buildings across some 85,000 square meters. There is also the university’s training center made up of four buildings, the medical center comprising 27 buildings, as well as the Yeongcheon Hospital. An additional 11 organizations are affiliated with the university, including the Centre for International Programmes and the Foreign Language Institute.
