The University of Padova is a premier Italian university located in the city of Padua, Italy. The University of Padova was founded in 1222 as a school of law and was one of the most prominent universities in early modern Europe. It is the second-oldest university in Italy and world's fifth-oldest surviving university. The University of Padua is one of Italy’s leading universities. From the fifteenth to the eighteenth century, the university was renowned for its research, particularly in the areas of medicine, astronomy, philosophy and law.
