Abstract
The PSR, CPITN and IARTI The Initial Assessment and Ranking of Periodontal Treatment Index an Improved Rapid Classifying Index of Periodontal and Perio-Restorative Cases
The CPITN and PSR are deficient for triage in perio and periorestorative cases: They provide isolated scores, do not include likely therapeutic information, do not provide the sequence of a plausible general treatment plan, fail to denote if perio-surgery is likely to be included or whether pre-operative/restorative gingival surgery is needed, and makes no mention of oral hygiene and maintenance. The Initial Assessment and Ranking of Treatment Index (IARTI) improves rapidity and accuracy of triage, provides a clear easily communicable system of likely proposed treatment modalities for perio cases, includes an assessment for pre-restorative surgery, oral hygiene, maintenance and embraces extra clinical data which facilitates perio treatments and management.
