About Materials Science

The multidisciplinary field of materials science also known as materials science and engineering is the layout and analysis of new materials, especially solids. It includes study of applied physics and chemistry with chemical, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering. Materials science is a syncretic discipline associating metallurgy, ceramics, solid-state physics, and chemistry. It is the first example of a current academic practice emerging by fusion rather than fission. Materials Science focus on current research issues such as cracking, fatigue and fracture, especially in active environments as well as corrosion and anticorrosion protection of structural metallic and polymer materials and the development of new materials.
