About Dental Orthopedics
It is the branch of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of the deformity of teeth. For this treatment, metal wires are inserted into braces, which can be made from stainless steel or a more aesthetic ceramic material. Human teeth found in the human mouth function in mechanically breaking down items of food by cutting and crushing them in preparation for swallowing and digestion. The roots of teeth are embedded in the maxilla (upper jaw) or the mandible (lower jaw) and are covered by gums. Teeth are made of multiple tissues of varying density and hardness. Tooth replantation is the reinsertion and splinting of a tooth that has been avulsed of its socket. Teeth are replanted to prevent permanent loss of the tooth, and to restore the landscape of the mouth so that the patient can eat and speak normally.Tooth extraction is the removal of teeth from the dental alveolus in the alveolar bone. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, but most commonly to remove teeth which have become unrestorable through tooth decay, periodontal disease or dental trauma; especially when they are associated with toothache. Sometimes wisdom teeth are impacted and may cause recurrent infections of the gum.
