Abstract


Background: In this study, our priority has been to ensure the availability of vaccines at all levels through effective cold chain and vaccine management system. Aim: Aim of the study was to identify the availability of vaccines at all levels through effective cold chain and vaccine management system. Method: In this research, the researcher collected her data from the renowned institution of Islamabad i.e., Federal EPI Islamabad. Quantitative method was used to collect data from the respondents. The sample size consisted of 60 children and of which 60 questionnaires were filled from Federal EPI. Findings: The Expanded Program on Immunization was launched for reducing deaths and disabilities due to vaccine preventable diseases in the country. Most of the staff deputed for vaccine logistics, storage and distribution management comes from nonmedical background. And often came with no prior knowledge, experience or skills related to vaccine and cold chain logistics management. The manual will provide guidelines for effective vaccine and cold chain management, field logistics monitoring, vaccine logistics management information system reporting, data quality and stocks availability at national, provincial, district and sub-district levels. Therefore, its usage will be ensured widely at policy, operations and process levels. Interpretation: Relevant officials of EPI program can get benefits from this research and its use will make significant improvements in the logistics and cold chain management system and field monitoring, with the goal of reducing stock outs and wastage at service delivery points.
