Abstract
If your wound care center is dealing with foot wounds of any type. There may be many questions that come into play. Is the patient’s footwear a contributing factor this patient’s current issue? What type of footwear would be best for this patient once they complete their wound care? Can this patient get the insole they need to prevent the ulcer from returning? Can I get this patient’s footwear modified to offload the area of concern inside, and or outside? The answer to all of these questions are yes. In this presentation we will discuss pedorthists, their technical skills, and their clinical knowledge. How they can provide your patients with the devices they need to continue the healing process and transition into footwear and insoles that will mitigate sheering forces and excessive area of pressure. We will also show the various ways to employ the skills and technical expertise of a pedorthist, whether as an employee of the wound care center, or as an independent contractor..
