Abstract
Federated learning has emerged as a transformative force in global Precision Health, enabling collaborative data analysis while preserving data privacy. This presentation explores the latest trends, challenges, opportunities, and future directions of federated learning in Precision Health. Key trends include interoperable standards, AI integration, edge computing, and decentralized data marketplaces. Challenges encompass data privacy, cybersecurity, data imbalances, and regulatory compliance. Opportunities arise in enhanced disease surveillance, personalized treatment, and collaborative research. Ethical considerations, privacy preservation, and robust cybersecurity are pivotal. Future directions involve decentralized AI governance, secure multi-party computation, collaborative research networks, and distributed AI marketplaces. Federated learning promises to revolutionize Precision Health and pave the way for precision health, but responsible data sharing and global collaborations are imperative for its success. Biography
Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes is an accomplished healthcare and life sciences executive, academician and techpreneur with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. She has held several distinguished leadership positions in academia, not for profit and business arenas, most notably CEO, President, VP, Chief Quality and Safety Officer, Chief Innovation Officer, Chief of Compliance. She serves as an Expert Advisor to the European Union Blockchain Observatory and Forum, and holding several leadership roles at the World Business Angels Investment Forum and its Institutes, which is an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) chaired by Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Her role(s) at the World Business Angel Investment Forum and its institutes include Country Chair, World Business Angel, Founder & CEO of RevEXpo Consulting, CEO of Softhread, Board Member of the Partners in Digital Health Institute, as well as the Government Blockchain Association, where she remains the acting Chief Innovation Officer. She is a senior advisor and executive consultant to Fortune 100 and 500 companies, as well as EU and UN-affiliated organizations, most recently the EU Central Bank and US Bank. Her educational background includes Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for her post-graduate medical degree and the University of Miami, where she earned her Executive MBA degree. As an alumna of MIT, Harvard, and Stanford she earned additional executive certifications in AI, Blockchain, Finance, Mediation and Arbitration, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Bioethics. She continues to teach at the University of Miami Business School and the WBAF Business School, while serving as an Affiliate Faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy, as well as the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights as a certified consultant. Member of the Forbes Business Council, and Co-Founder of the WBAF World Smart Cities Economic Development Commission.
