Background: Epidemiological studies on Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM) in India had revealed a hike in the prevalence of T2DM cases, especially in the urban counterparts. Both the patient and the health-care system bear a heavy financial burden in management of T2DM. Numerous obstacles must be overcome for the condition to be effectively managed, including a shortage of qualified medical and paramedical staff, subpar services, dissatisfaction with the quality of the provided care, and the high cost of care Aims and Objectives: To determine the prevalence, risk factors, and outof- pocket costs for patients with T2DM receiving treatment in urban Puducherry Methods: A population-based cross-sectional survey was conducted during September and October 2019, in urban field practice area of, JIPMER Puducherry Sample size was calculated using Open Epi Version 3.0. Using a power of 80%, absolute precision as 5% and 95% confidence interval, considering the utilization of services for T2DM as 50% from a pilot study and the sample size was calculated as 386 households. Systematic random sampling was used for selecting the households for inclusions in their study
