Abstract


Introduction: This poster is related the Orthodontic product manufacturing industry which is leading the thinking of Orthodontist these days. There are serious blogs addressing the critical issues in orthodontics, and they’re pretty much all about TADs, miniplates, accelerated orthodontics systems, self-ligation, removable aligner therapy, cone beam computed tomography, and other device- and machine-based techniques and claims. 1. In the current times Orthodontics is mostly Industry driven rather than Orthodontist driven. 2. Does the Orthodontists curiosity, experience, diagnostic savvy, and powers of observation matter anymore? 3. Has the concept of scientific and clinical ‘‘merit’’ changed dramatically over this 40-year period? 4. Why is the orthodontic industry interfering a lot in treatment planning and overall thinking? Materials and Methods: Online survey was carried out and the Orthodontist were made to fill a questionnaire regarding the various materials and inventory available by various companies for use in Orthodontics.All the data was eneter on Excel sheet and statistical tests were done using SPSS 22.4.1 software. Paired and un-paired tests were used. Results: Results showed the influence of various Industry driven products is more on the treatment planning and thinking of the Orthodontist rather than being relied on their own thinking Keywords: Industry driven orthodontics, Thinking driven orthodontics
