Abstract
The UK has the most integrated government-funded clinical research infrastructure in the world. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network is part of that infrastructure and ‘the ‘power of the Network’ is a tangible asset that we put to work in many forums to help attract, deliver and drive clinical research in the UK. From scoping Britain’s capabilities in the delivery of biosimilar medicine trials, to ensuring the success of the 100,000 Genomes Project (a national transformation programme is set to change the way we deliver healthcare to patients with rare disease and cancer in the UK) - the Network approach yields many benefits. In this presentation Divya Chadha Manek, Head of Business Development and Marketing (Commercial) for the NIHR Clinical Research Network, will describe how the power of the Network has been harnessed to evidence the UK’s capacity and capabilities to deliver clinical trials of biosimilar medicines. In addition, Divya will discuss the next phase of this important initiative - an online education package designed to increase clinical awareness of and confidence in this new category of medicines. Divya will explain how the network approach will be used to cascade this important new resource to frontline healthcare staff.
