Abstract
Background: Laparoscopic surgery has revolutionised the field of gynaecological surgery. Gynaecological laparoscopy is an important diagnostic and interventional method and increasingly accepted by the community because it is minimally invasive and is cheaper. The introduction of gynaecological laparoscopy in the Feni pvt. Hospital,Bangladesh an important step forward in service delivery . Presently, all most all gynecological procedures can done in laparoscopic or minimally invasive approach. The aim of the study was to share the my experience of gynecological laparoscopic surgeries performed at Feni pvt. Hospital , Feni Bangladesh. Methods: A study was carried out at Feni pvt. Hospital from 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2013. All the patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic surgeries (diagnostic and interventional) were analyzed for the indication, type of procedure, advantage and its complications. Results: Overall 4200 patients successfully underwent laparoscopic surgeries are, diagnostic laparoscopy, operative laparoscopy. Seven cases contemplated for operative laparoscopy underwent laparotomy. LAVH was converted to abdominal hysterectomy in two cases and laparotomy was done in three cases because of bladder injury. Conclusions: Laparoscopic gynecological surgery has tremendous potential in Bangladesh. Most of the laparoscopic surgery offers distinct advantages and dealing safely with common gynecological problems. Short hospital stay, reduced morbidity, quick mobilization and comfortable postoperative period are main advantages of the laparoscopic technique. Proper training of the nursing staff as well as the junior doctors can help to reduce the operating time.
