The number of people aged between 40-80 years having glaucoma is about 64.3 million in 2013, which will increase to 76 million by 2020 and to 111.8 million by 2040. Aim of this study is to detect glaucomatous eyes by the primary care physicians and optometrist by the use of ophthalmoscope during the initial visit. Method of this study is a review of the published data with the use of prevalence models to give firsthand information to all the primary care physicians and optometrists to how easily they can detect the affected eye, which includes a good knowledge about the anterior segment of the eye and about the optic nerve head. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Primary care physicians and optometrists play a major role in keeping the vision stable by timely referral.
