Abstract


This project aimed at the prevalence of tongue-tie in Nigerian Population. In carrying out this study a total of one thousand four hundred and twenty-four (1,424) comprising of 748 females and 676 male from ages 0-10years samples were selected randomly from different hospitals in North, East, South and West Regions of Nigeria. The analysis of data collected revealed that tongue-tie is relatively low in Nigerian Population with its prevalence been 5.5%, having a ratio of 2:2.9 for female and male respectively, which is similar to previous findings ranging 4.2%-10.7% in all infants. This current study has a level of significant (P<0.05) with Gender differences in prevalence of tongue-tie in Nigeria Population significant (P=0.028). Note that *P* is <0.05 and so the gender difference is significant.
