Abstract
The Diagnostic Accuracy of Serum Amyloid A and Cardiac Troponin I in Arabian Horses With Obstructive Colic
The aim of the present study was focused on the diagnostic importance of serum amyloid A (SAA) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in cases of obstructive colic in horses.
Forty horses (30 horses with strangulating intestinal obstruction and 10 clinically healthy) 4-8 years old. Two blood specimens were obtained from each horse. The first specimen was used for obtaining whole blood for estimation of PCV and TCO2. The second blood specimen was used for obtaining blood sera for estimation of SAA, cTnI, bicarbonate, lactate and glucose concentrations.
