Abstract

Objective: We present a series of three different cases of Retropharyngeal Abscess with different presentation, etiology and treatment.
Method: We reviewed the data of adult patients with retropharyngeal abscess treated in the department of Otorhinolaryngology with three different etiology and presentation.
Results: Retropharyngeal abscess can have different presentation dependent upon the varied etiology. xray of neck was useful in diagnosis of all the cases. Culture of the causative organism is necessary for appropriate treatment.
Conclusion: Retropharyngeal abscess are rare in adults and a high index of suspicion is required for correct and early diagnosis and institution of treatment. The therapy depends upon the etiology and causative organism.
