Gastroenterology is the branch focusing on digestive system and its disorders i.e. diagnosis and management of patients with diseases of the intestines, liver and biliary tree, and pancreas. It mainly deals with the normal functions and diseases of the stomach, intestines, and associated organs and liver failure conditions. This study provides a detailed understanding of the normal physiology of digestive organs as well as motility through the intestines and gastrointestinal tract in order to maintain a healthy digestion, absorption of nutrients, removal of waste and metabolic processes. Gastroenterology can further be divided into two aspects: medical and surgical sections.
