Genital disease is a condition that affects reproductive system of both male and female. In the male reproductive system genital diseases can occur in any of the genital areas like testicle,epididymitis, urethra, bladder which will cause inflammation and pain in the testis or penis. whereas in female reproductive system they will occur in genital areas like clitoris, vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. The three common types of vaginal infections are Candida vulvovaginitis (yeast infections), Bacterial infections (bacterial vaginosis), Parasitic infections (trichomoniasis). Some of the male genital diseases include Hematocele, Hemospermia, Herpes Genitalis, Spermatic cord torsion, Spermatocele, Testicluar Hydrocele, Varicocele, Orchitis etc and female diseases include Endometriosis, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Endometrial cancer, Cervical cancer, Oophoritis etc. These female diseases may severely affect fertility, decrease quality of life or sometimes lead to death. Regular medical checkup and treatment can help to minimize effects of existing diseases on the female reproductive system. Viral, bacterial, fungal, structural, functional or other infections will be the source of these genital diseases. Abnormal hormone production by the endocrine glands, such as the pituitary, thyroid, adrenals etc. or by ovaries or by testes can also cause genital diseases. Some genital diseases are sexually transmitted such as syphilis, gonorrhea, AIDS, herpes, genital warts. Sexually transmitted diseases can be abbreviated as STD.
