Dr. Xiushan Zhu received the Ph.D degree from the University of Arizona in 2008.He is currently an Associate Research Professor in the College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona.He has more than 40 peer-reviewed journal papers and over 30 presentations at international conferences. Dr. Zhu is also the Director of Technology at NP Photonics, Tucson, Arizona, where he is responsible for the research and development of specialty fiber devices and fiber lasers. Dr. Zhu is a member of the OSA and SPIE.

Dr. Zhu research interests include novel fiber lasers and fiber devices, nonlinear fiber optics, high power visible and mid-IR laser sources, supercontinuum laser sources, high energy pulsed lasers.
