Dr. Davies studied for his undergraduate degree in biological sciences at the University of Sussex, UK, and went on to study for his PhD in nervous system regeneration at the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London, which was awarded by University College London in 1996. Dr. Davies started his own research program as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, in 2000, and initiated the development of two complementary approaches to repairing the injured adult CNS. He was awarded the 2006 American Spinal Injury Association prize for breakthrough in spinal cord injury for his pre-clinical research with Decorin.
