Biography
Stephen C. Burrows, DPM, MBA, CPHIMS, FHIMSS is Founding Chair for Healthcare Informatics and is currently the Chair of Health Science & Leadership at Sacred Heart University. In August 2014, he was also named as Program Chair of the Health Science undergraduate program. In this role, he has responsibilities for the faculty, staff, curriculum, and students enrolled in the program. Dr. Burrows has extensive experience in the clinical medical field as well as the field of healthcare information technology. Prior to Sacred Heart University, he held several administrative and informatics roles including Assistant Director for the Management of Information Systems Department, Healthcare IT Manager for a quality improvement organization, Senior Product Manager for a healthcare software company, and Clinical Application Specialist responsible for a number of hospital based clinical applications.
Burrows holds a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine; a Master of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University; and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Nutrition Sciences from Brooklyn College. He is licensed by the State of Connecticut to practice podiatric medicine. Dr. Burrows is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and a Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT). In December of 2014, he was named as a Fellow, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (FHIMSS).
