Biography
Dr. Sarita Kumar, Associate Professor at Acharya Narendra Dev College, University of Delhi, India, is a trained entomologist. In over 26 years of teaching, academics, administration and 16 years of research experience; she has contributed immensely to education at every level. She is credited with 38 research publications, over 50 presentations/publications in National/International Conferences and 3 e-book research chapters. She is also Editor/Associate editor of International Journals and Reviewer in many journals of International repute.
Dr. Kumar works in the area on insect pest and vector control. She has worked diligently and consciously to develop broad-based ‘Learning Innovative Research Environment’, among her most significant contribution in research being “Developing alternate Eco-Safe Strategies for Mosquito/Insect Pest Control”. Her research is not limited to ‘Paper Presentation’ or ‘Lab Experiments’ but to successfully develop “Natural, Eco-Safe Anti-mosquito Strategies”.
Dr. Kumar has developed 3 e-modules for Post-Graduate Program and 12 for UG program. Apart from mentoring students for M.Sc. dissertation; she works closely with several Government Organizations for curriculum/educational content development and is key Resource Person in several training programs. She is credited with 18 Books on school science. An Open Education evangelist, she facilitated over twenty workshops/conferences in diverse areas of Science/Open education and presented her work internationally. She has worked as Local coordinator of International Project on OER and also created online animal repository. Besides her teaching/academic responsibilities, she has completed UGC Major Research Project, 41 Summer Projects for Undergraduate students; 04 Entrepreneurship Projects and 02 Innovation Projects.
An academic par excellence; Dr. Kumar is a proud recipient of many prestigious awards; ‘Meritorious Teacher Award’, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, India; ‘The Shiksha Rattan Puraskar’, IIF Society, India; ‘Distinguished Teacher Award - DU from Former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam. She has also been conferred with - ‘K S Krishnan Teacher Fellow’ by HBCSE, TIFR, Mumbai, India; ‘WikiEducator User Page Expo Award’ by Wikieducator Community; ‘Open Access Competition Winner’ Among Ten Winners Worldwide selected by INASP (UK); ‘Featured WE’ by India page of WikiEducator.
