Dr. Omathanu Perumal is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the South Dakota State University, USA. He earned his Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutics from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER), India. He completed postdoctoral study at the School of Medicine, Wayne State University, USA.

Dr. Omathanu Perumal research interest is to understand the molecular basis of improving the ‘deliverability’ of drugs at the interface of chemical and biological sciences. This knowledge is used to design novel delivery systems to address drug permeability and solubility issues with specific focus on the following: enhance transdermal delivery of small and large molecules, design and evaluation of novel nanocarriers, transcutaneous vaccine delivery systems, protein & DNA delivery systems and design of intracellular drug delivery vehicles.
