Biography
Dr. Nancy Winterbauer is the Director of the Center for Public Health Practice-Based Research at East Carolina University, USA. Dr. Nancy Winterbauer earned an MA and PhD in Biomedical Anthropology from Binghamton University and a MS in Epidemiology from the University at Albany. Dr. Nancy Winterbauer dissertation research addressed gender role ideology, stress, and culture change among Yucatec Mayan migrants to Cancun's Riviera Maya. Following completion of the PhD, she became interested in research and evaluation to improve community health and public health practice, primarily at the local level. Prior to joining the ECU Department of Public Health in July 2011, Dr. Nancy Winterbauer worked with the University of Illinois and the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Universities of North Florida and Florida, and the Duval County Health Department.

Dr. Nancy Winterbauer work is focused on public health services and systems research, with an emphasis on community-engaged scholarship.
