Have a broad background and experience in neural development and stem cell research (e.g., neural stem cells and cancer stem cells) and in genomics/bioinformatics, with specific training and expertise in key research areas for this application. His research focuses on the gene regulation in stem and progenitor cells use an integrative approach combining computational prediction and experimental verification. 

His current research focuses on developing single-cell sequencing approaches to understand the molecular mechanism underlying activation of neural stem cells after injury. As a principal investigator at Rutgers, he has successfully administered projects funded by the NIH, NSF and New Jersey State focusing on neural development and cancer research, collaborated with other researchers, and produced peer-reviewed publications. As a result of these experiences, he is aware of the importance of frequent communication among project members and of constructing a research plan, timeline, and budget. Therefore,he has the expertise, leadership, training, expertise and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research project.
