Biography
Dr. YAM Wai Ping, Judy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Stephanie is an expert, researcher, author in the field(s) Molecular biology in human cancers. Dr. Judy has obtained her doctoral degree Doctor of Philosophy in Biology at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Research Interest
Dr. Judy’s research interests focuses on elucidating the functions and signaling pathways of focal adhesion molecules. These molecules act as structural links between extracellular matrix and actin cytoskeleton, and are crucial sites of signal transduction. More importantly, they are closely associated with liver cancer, and their deregulation contributes to the acquired aggressiveness of cancer cells. Our work has answered fundamental questions about the subcellular localization, intracellular translocation and binding activity of these molecules as well as the molecular pathways of these molecules that underlie liver cancer progression. Our research is aimed at contributing to the betterment of clinical management of cancer patients and providing insights into the development of new therapies.
