Biography
Hideo Nakajima was born in 1949, and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1971 and Ph.D. from Tohoku University in 1977. Then, he was a postdoctoral associate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA until 1980. For 1980 to 1992, he was a research associate and an associate professor at Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University. In 1992, he moved to Iwate University as a professor. Since 1996, he had been a professor of Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University. For 2010-2012 he was vice-president of Japan Institute of Metals. He is Emeritus Professor Osaka University and the director of the Wakasa Wan Energy Research Center since 2012.He is also Chief Executive Officer, Institute for Lotus Materials Research Co.,Ltd. He has been acting as a member of the Science Council of Japan.

Researches for Lotus-type Porous Metals (Fabrication, Physical properties and Application), Diffusions in Alloys, Intermetallic compounds and Quasicrystals, Magnetism and Superconductivity in Super Lattice and Irradiation Effects in Nuclear Fusion Materials.
