Biography
Dr. Glenn Harvel is an Associate Professor Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Canadaand a licensed professional engineer. Dr. Harvel obtained his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University in 1995 studying a Neutron Radiography Diagnostic Method for Two-Phase Flow in Nuclear Fuel Channels. From 1995 to 2006, Dr. Harvel worked for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) in the areas of Operational Thermalhydraulics and Safety, Plant Ageing, and Nuclear Design. He held the position of Technical Design Manager for 4 years working on CANDU and Small Reactor Design improvements.
Since 1997, Dr. Harvel has held an Adjunct Professor research appointment at McMaster University related to non-destructive testing. In 2006, he joined the University of Ontario Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor teaching courses in Nuclear Plant Design. He is currently Associate Dean of the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science.
