Biography
Gianluca Polese is Assistant Professor of Zoology and Parasitology at the University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy. He was trained in Natural Science as a graduate and in Evolutionary Biology as a doctoral student at the University of Naples, then enrolled in the Neuroscience program at the Michigan State University as a postdoctoral fellow. His research focuses on changes in the olfactory system over the course of vertebrate and invertebrate evolution working on different models (Cephalopod, Fish, Amphibian, Reptile and Mammalian). His research ranging from neuroanatomy to neuroethology looking for the implication of chemical signals on reproduction and food intake.
Research Interest
My central interest is in the evolution of neural structures and their role in behaviour. My research focuses on changes in the olfactory system over the course of vertebrate and invertebrate evolution working on different model (Cephalopod, Fish, Amphibian, Reptile and Mammalian).
