Biography
Dr. Fred O. Asiegbu is a Professor of Forest Pathology at the Department of Forest Sciences, University of Helsinki, Finland. Prof. Asiegbu completed his basic undergraduate degree and Master’s degree at the University of Benin and University of Jos, Nigeria respectively. Prof. Asiegbu earned his Ph.D from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. This was followed by postdoctoral fellowships at Department of Forest Mycology & Pathology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala, Sweden and at Department of Plant Pathology, University of California, Riverside, USA. Dr. Asiegbu has held positions as Associate Professor of Forest Microbiology & Pathology at SLU and in 2007 appointed to full Professor of Forest Pathology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Prof. Asiegbu has spent several short sabbatical research periods at various universities including Clemson University Genomics Institute, South Carolina, USA; Fungal Genomics Laboratory at North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, USA; Department of Plant sciences at University of Oxford, UK and at Forest Biotechnology Laboratory at NCSU, USA.
