Biography

Dr. Francesco Piva is Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Dento-Stomatological Sciences & Specialties at Polytechnic University of Marche Region (Italy). He recived his MA in Electronic Engineering in 2001 and PhD in Applied Biomolecular Sciences in 2007 from the same University. From 2001 to 2002 he worked in biomedical devices development. For a short period in 2002 he was research fellow at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Italy. His research is focused on the information collected on human genome and the languages to interpret it. In particular, he works on decryption of human RNA splicing and export languages using bioinformatic tools that he projects and builds. On the last few years he works on the involvement of exosomes in cancer and targeted therapies using experimental techniques.

Dr. Francesco Piva research interests include: Building of models to predict splicing patterns of human genes also in the presence of mutations or polymorphisms Reconstruction of gene regulatory networks for system biology approaches. NGS data analysis. Targeted cancer therapies. Exosomes and cancer.
