Dr. Brian Francis, MD, is an associate professor of Ophthalmology and the holder of the Ralph and Angelyn Riffenburgh Professorship in Glaucoma at the Doheny Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine of USC. He is one of the founders of the Ocular Burn Rehabilitation Center, which is a collaborative effort of the glaucoma, oculoplastics and cornea services. He is also involved in clinical trials of glaucoma diagnostic technologies, medications, and surgical procedures, and he has published on the epidemiology of glaucoma and related risk factors. Dr. Francis completed his undergraduate work at Stanford University and earned his MD from the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his residency at the Tulane University Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Francis then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He also holds a masters degree from USC in Clinical and Biomedical Investigations. He is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been honored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology with an Achievement Award and Secretariat Award. He also serves on the Ophthalmic Technology Assessment Committee of the AAO, evaluating newer technologies in glaucoma. He is a member of the editorial board and a section editor for Eyenet magazine and the glaucoma section editor for Ophthalmology Web. He has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored several book chapters.
