Arrhythmia is defined as an irregular heartbeat.Phenomenon of heart beating too fast is tachycardia. Heart beating too slowly is bradycardia, beating too early is called premature contraction & too irregular is called fibrillation.
Arrhythmias generally occur when the electrical impulses to the heart which coordinate heartbeats donot work properly which makes heart beat too fast/slow or inconsistently.
Many heart arrhythmias are harmless. Every person experience irregular heartbeats in their life time, which may feel like fluttering. Some arrhythmias, however, especially if they veer too far from a normal heartbeat or result from a weak or damaged heart, may cause troublesome and even potentially fatal symptoms.
