Biography

 Dr. Wilson Z. Ray is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery. He graduated with a B.S. in biology and received a medical degree from the University of Iowa. He completed his neurosurgery training at Washington University. He is fellowship trained in both peripheral nerve and complex spine surgery. Dr. Ray's clinical interests are primarily spinal oncology, spinal cord injury and traumatic nerve injuries.

Research Interest

Dr. Ray's research interests are focused on axonal regeneration following both peripheral nerve and spinal cord injuries as well as the development of innovative technology targeting peripheral nerve/neuroprosthetic interfaces. Through the use of diverse experiences and backgrounds in the fields of tissue engineering, device design, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology and neurosurgery, Dr. Ray's lab seeks to employ an interdisciplinary approach to engineer novel technological platforms, medical devices and clinical therapies with significant potential for clinical translation.
