Biography

Roger K. Pitman, M.D. is Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and an internationally recognized researcher, teacher, and clinician focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He is board-certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. He has approximately 250 publications in the medical literature, of which 150 are on PTSD, and 8 on PTSD's forensic aspects. He is a recipient of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies' Outstanding Scientific Achievement and Lifetime Achievement Awards. Dr. Pitman has 26 years' experience as a forensic psychiatric consultant and expert witness. He has testified 21 times on behalf of plaintiffs and 12 times on behalf of defendants in civil actions. He has also testified in criminal cases in which PTSD is at issue.
