Biography
Dr. Cimino's clinical specialty includes neuropathology and ophthalmic pathology, with a particular interest in molecular neuro-oncology. He received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude in biochemistry and neurobiology from the University of Washington in 2004. He then earned combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Washington, Seattle. Following his doctoral training, he completed a combined anatomic pathology residency and neuropathology fellowship program at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Research Interest
Developing and leveraging experimental models of brain tumors to understand the cellular, genetic and molecular effectors that promote or limit brain tumor progression. The goal of his research is to use in vitro and in vivo experimental models as a means of discovering novel mechanisms underlying brain tumorigenesis, which could be translated into clinical diagnostics, therapeutics or prognostic/predictive risk assessment.
