After earning her medical doctorate, Dr. Nirupa Patel completed an internship at King Edward Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of the Seth G. S. Medical College of the University of Bombay. She took her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. After sixteen years of academic and clinical experience in the field of Rheumatology, she joined the faculty of LSU School of Medicine in July, 2008 as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine’s Section of Rheumatology. Dr. Patel holds licenses in the states of Louisiana and Kentucky, and she is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology.
