Biography

Jeffrey L Olson, M.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at University of Colorado School of Medicine and is a specialist in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. He is an active member in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. His research interests are focused on translational interventions for retinal photoreceptor degeneration, novel microsurgical instrumentation, and treatments for ischemic retinal diseases. He recently received the Team Science Award from the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, as well as two grants from the Colorado Bioscience Program to support this research. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, Dr. Olson received his medical degree from the University of Colorado, and completed his Internship at the Marshfield Clinic. He then completed his Ophthalmology Residency and Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
