Biography
Dr. Henry Orff has extensive training and experience in sleep disorders medicine and clinical psychology. Presently Dr. Orff is Principal Investigator on a VA funded Career Development Award designed to examine the potential strengths and/or limitations of utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) in Veterans with insomnia and history of mild traumatic brain injury. Overall, Dr. Orff has developed a program of research which aims to investigate the effects of sleep disturbance on neuropsychiatric and neurocognitive measures in patients with history of mental and physical traumas. Dr. Orff also hopes, through this program of research, to further evaluate the effects of cognitive-behavioral treatments for sleep disturbance on rehabilitation and recovery outcomes in this and other clinically complicated populations. In addition to his work in this area, Dr. Orff has ongoing interests and collaborations that include investigations of sleep and mood disturbance in women across the reproductive lifespan and fMRI-based assessments of daytime cognitive functioning in patients with chronic insomnia.
