Biography
Dr. Giorgia Della Rocca is an Associate Professor at Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Perugia, Italy. Dr. Georgia Rocca , graduated with honors in Perugia in 1989 , she obtained two years after her appointment as Assistant Professor for the scientific sector Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology , Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Perugia. With this role, she worked on a variety of topics , mainly focused on residual issues in aquaculture. Since 1994 she is professor in charge of courses on topics of pharmacology and toxicology veterinary toxicology applied to livestock production , eco-toxicology , drug surveillance and pharmacovigilance, pain management, etc. At the University of Perugia as part of courses advanced degrees and three-year master's universities and courses. Since 2005 she is Associate Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Department of Pathology, Diagnostic and Veterinary Clinic of the Faculty , and since then is directing its research in the field of pain therapy in domestic animals , with particular reference to the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the onset of pain syndromes and possible therapeutic applications related , both in the course of acute pain in the most complicated chronic pain syndromes . She is a founding member and Scientific Director of the CESDA (Center for Study of Pain Animal), recently established at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Perugia. She is the author and / or co-author of over 100 scientific papers published in Italian and international journals or presented at national and international conferences .
Research Interest
Dr. Giorgia Della Rocca is working to promote and coordinate research activities , both methodological and application , especially on the recognition of pain ( looking for the most appropriate instruments related to the semiotics of pain) and the treatment of various pain conditions in different animal species , in order to improve the health and quality of life through the improvement of their knowledge , and to organize educational events designed to raise awareness and train the veterinary class as part of what should become a new branch of veterinary medicine
