Biography
Francois Ribalet is a senior research scientist and he is interested predominantly in the physiology and ecology of marine microbes and their adaptation to different environments. His PhD work has mainly focused on how chemical signals produced by plankton, particularly oxylipin compounds produced by diatoms, influence the composition and fitness of a community. My postdoctoral work examined how nutrient gradients influence the distribution, abundance and activity of phytoplankton communities. He currently investigating the coupling between cyanobacteria and their consumers and its effects on ecosystem stability. His long-term goal is to determine the mechanisms that shape patterns of community structure and function in the oceans.
Research Interest
Francois Ribalet is intrested in marine ecology and studying how the environment shapes the distribution and abundance of plankton in the ocean.
