Biography

Dr. Angela L Stotts is a clinical psychologist and researcher specializing in behavioral and pharmacological treatments for substance use disorders, including nicotine dependence. Dr. Stotts has been a principal or co-investigator on multiple treatment-research studies funded by NIH and other federal agencies. Specifically, she has had NIDA and NCI funding to test novel motivational interviewing and acceptance/mindfulness-based interventions for pregnant smokers and opiate abusers. Dr. Stotts also has had HRSA funding to test a hospital-based intervention to reduce secondhand smoke in families with an infant at high respiratory risk in the neonatalintensive care unit. Dr. Stotts holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, as well as an appointment in the Center for Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Medicine. She is the Director of the Research Division in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, as well as the Director of the Behavioral Health and Addiction Research Program within this division. Dr. Stotts also supervises resident projects and serves as a mentor to new investigators.
