Pain management
Pain management employs interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with pain. A typical pain management team includes medical practitioners, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists. The pain sometimes resolves promptly once the underlying trauma or pathology has healed with drugs such as analgesics and occasionally anxiolytics. However, effective management of chronic pain frequently requires the coordinated efforts of the management team. Pain management techniques can be widely classified according to the degree of intervention they involve into three major types: Noninvasive, non-drug pain management, Noninvasive pharmacologic pain management and Invasive pain management.
