Survey of Obstetrics and Gynecology Providers on Management of HIV Serodiscordant Couples: Assessment of Attitudes, Practices, and Knowledge
In the United States, current guidelines with respect to reproductive options for HIV-serodiscordant couples where the male is positive include sperm preparation techniques coupled with either intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization. Recent studies have demonstrated the efficacy of pre-exposure prophylaxis in reducing the risk of seroconversion in couples having intercourse when an HIV-seropositive male has undetectable viral loads. This study assesses attitudes, practice patterns and knowledge base of Obstetrics and Gynecology practitioners regarding reproductive options for HIV-infected individuals.
