Substance Use and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Active Duty and Reserve Component Military Personnel
The relationship between substance use and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been studied in the general civilian population and in war veterans. However, little research has been conducted using large population-based samples of both active duty and reserve component military personnel. This study examined the association between smoking and heavy alcohol use and the risk for PTSD in both military components.
