Performance of Late Blight Resistant Advanced Potato Hybrids in North-Eastern Hill Region
In field experiment four advance stage hybrids along with four commercial cultivars were evaluated for tuber yield components and reaction to late blight at five locations in Northeastern hill states viz., Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim during the summer crop season of 2005-06 and 2006-07. The highest total tuber yield was recorded in hybrid SM/93-237 (277 q/ha) followed by SS/99-45 (239 q/ha) and SM/92-338 (229 q/ha) as against 221 q/ha in best control Kufri Giriraj at different locations over the years. Advance stage hybrid SM/93-237 (234 q/ha) also produced high marketable tuber yield across the locations and showed significantly high degree of resistance to late blight with lowest AUDPC values (50) across the locations as compared to Kufri Giriraj with AUDPC= 290.
