Ocular Loiasis in a Nigerian Female Adult
A 36-year-old female Nigerian civil servant (nursing officer) with a history of itching and discomfort in the right eye was presented to our clinic in May 2013. The worm, located in sub-conjunctiva space was surgically removed with the aid of slit lamp bio-microscope and identified as the adult worm of Loa loa. The patient was placed on conservative management after the removal of the worm and the chemosis at the point of exit of the worm resolved completely. The vision of the patient was however unaffected.
