Neutron Energy Spectrum Correction Based on Capture Time in a Boron-Loaded Liquid Scintillation Detector
Neutron Energy Spectrum Correction Based on Capture Time in a Boron-Loaded Liquid Scintillation Detector
In current practice of the capture-gated technique, it is always assumed that neutron capture occurs only after the incoming neutron loses all of its kinetic energy. In this work, it is shown that this assumption may cause degradation of energy resolution in neutron spectrometry. The relation between degradation of energy resolution and the capture time is studied. A correction method based on this relation is proposed and demonstrated using Geant4 simulation toolkit.
