Medical Informatics is the branch of Science. It is an amalgamation of medical science and information science and computer science, Medical Informatics is a rapidly developing scientific field that uses computers and information technology to gain, store, analyze, communicate and display medical information and knowledge. Worldwide use of computer technology in medicine began in the early 1950s with the rise of the computers. In 1949, Gustav Wagner established the first professional organization for informatics in Germany. Medical Informatics is multidisciplinary in nature it mainly deals with Clinical Informatics, Nursing Informatics , Bio Medical Informatics, Electronic Health record, Health Data Analytics, Tele Medicine, Tele Pathology, and Tele Surgery. Although considerable challenges remain, the impact of medical informatics will grow certainly. The imperatives of improving documentation, reducing error, and empowering patients will continue to motivate use of information technology in health care.
